We support charities and whenever you shop with us, you too can show your support. Every time you make a purchase through Discount’d a contribution will be made to our most popular charity. To ensure it is a charity of your preferred choice you simply need to select your preference in your admin area. Your selection will then be collated with other Discount’d users and the charity with the most votes will be chosen. Our current charities are highlighted below.

NSPCC

The NSPCC was founded in 1884 by the Reverend Benjamin Waugh. The NSPCC employs 2,000 people throughout the UK and the Channel Islands. Their vision is to end cruelty to children in the UK. The NSPCC are always campaigning to help end cruelty to children in the UK – from making sure that child protection remains at the top of the political agenda to making your local area safer. In 2009/10, 30,420 people got in touch to talk about their worries for a child. Nearly 12,000 calls were referred on to social services because the NSPCC were concerned for a child’s safety – and 10 per cent went to the police because they were so serious.

Call the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000 if you are worried about a child.

Oxfam

Oxfam is a vibrant global movement of passionate, dedicated people fighting poverty together. From saving lives and developing projects that put poor people in charge of their lives and livelihoods, to campaigning for change that lasts. That’s Oxfam in action. To have the biggest possible impact on the lives of poor people worldwide, Oxfam concentrates on three interlinked areas of work:

Emergency response - People need help in an emergency – fast. Oxfam save lives, swiftly delivering aid, support and protection; and helping communities develop the capacity to cope with future crises.

Development work - Poor people can take control, solve their own problems, and rely on themselves – with the right support. Oxfam funds long-term work to fight poverty in thousands of communities worldwide.

Campaigning for change - Poverty isn’t just about lack of resources. In a wealthy world it’s about bad decisions made by powerful people. Oxfam campaigns hard, putting pressure on leader’s for real lasting change.

Cerebra

Cerebra is a unique charity set up to help improve the lives of children with brain related conditions through researching, educating and directly supporting children and their carers.

Cerebra recognise the child with a disability as a child first and foremost and try to work for them as children rather than for their disability. Cerebra want to improve their lives and help them be comfortable with their world, giving them the chances for experiences and enjoyment that all children should have.

Cerebra aim to spread understanding and tolerance of all neurological conditions, leading to a culture of inclusion. In which children can make a choice about their life's direction and participate fully in society.
